The ocean, mountains and breathtaking scenery in Costa Verde
The contrast between the turquoise waters
of Mangaratiba, Sepetiba and Ilha Grande bays and the Serra
do Mar (Ocean Highlands) with its green belt of Atlantic Forest
give to this region its one of a kind characteristics. This
is where you can find some of the most spectacular, exotic scenery
along the Brazilian coastline. You can't help being dazzled.
Costa Verde (The Green Coast) has a wide variety of beaches,
many of them semi deserted hideaways, protected by rocky walls
and accessible only by sea. It brings together close to 360
islands, making the locale a paradise for divers, sailers, and
fans of every type of aquatic sport.
Its proximity to the mountains makes it possible for visitors
to go climbing, refresh themselves in creeks and waterfalls
and walk along many different types of trails. There’s
no lack of things to do in Costa Verde, which is also endowed
with excellent hotel infrastructure (especially resorts) and
restaurants.
The historical city of Paraty, with its colonial homes and cobblestone
streets, is one of the main attractions. Angra dos Reis, Mangaratiba
and Itacuruçá are other important tourist destinations.
The beaches, trails, waterfalls, parks and Nature Reserves on
Ilha Grande (Big Island) deserve their fame and are not to be
missed.
