Rio de Janeiro, a place full of marvels
Although there are many beautiful cities
in the world, only one of them has earned international fame
as the “Marvelous City”: Rio de Janeiro. And it
wasn’t by accident. Nature has been uniquely generous
with Rio, giving it oceans, mountains and post card perfect
views.
Copacabana beach, with its broad Portuguese mosaic sidewalk
depicting waves; Ipanema beach with Dois Irmãos (Two
Brothers) Hill and Pedra da Gávea framing the sunset
in the background; Corcovado mountain with the Christ the Redeemer
statue on top; and Sugarloaf Mountain with its to and fro of
trolley cars are just a few examples.
But Rio offers much more: it has 90 Km of beaches, large green
areas like Tijuca National Park with the largest urban forest
in the world, as well as lots of outdoor areas ideal for excursions
and sports, including Rodrigo de Freitas Lake, with leisure
choices for the whole family.
The city hops as much by day as it does by night in the bars,
restaurants, large venues and cultural centers in Zona Sul (South
Side) all the way to Lapa. Even more so when big events like
New Year’s Eve and Carnival are taking place.
Close by, on the other side of Guanabara Bay, there’s
another city that’s worth a visit: Niterói, full
of charm and one of a kind secrets waiting to be revealed.
