Athletes of Pan Statementes
Rio de Janeiro was the stage for the biggest
sporting event of the Americas, the 2007 Pan-American Games.
Over the course of 17 days, 5,662 athletes from 42 countries
showed off their skill, perseverance and talent as they competed
for 1,076 gold, silver and bronze medals in 47 different sporting
events.
During these Games, foreign athletes and managers got to know
the city’s infrastructure for organized sports. In their
free time, they could also make use of the countless outdoor
areas dedicated to exercise, strolls and leisure activities.
