How to change money and use credit cards
Brazil’s unit of currency is the
Real (R$) and its exchange rate in relation to other currencies
is published daily in newspapers and specialized websites. You
can change cash money and travellers checks in banks, travel
agencies and authorized hotels.
Banks are open Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
and there are ATM machines which operate 24 hours a day . Travel
agencies are open during regular business hours, from 9 a.m.
to 6 p.m., but the ones in shopping malls stay open on weekdays
until 10 p.m.
International credit cards are accepted in most hotels, restaurants,
large stores, travel agencies, car rental agencies and other
companies serving tourists.
