Cinematic beauty and a wide variety of attractions along the coast
Nature was extremely generous with Rio
de Janeiro state, concentrating along its 635 Km coastline four
large bays (Guanabara, Ilha Grande, Mangaratiba and Sepetiba),
nearly 400 islands and 800 beautiful beaches of many different
kinds.
Right next to the sea, she placed lakes, lagoons and sand bars.
And, as if this were not enough, she also threw in a chain of
mountains with a long green strip of Atlantic Forest, the Serra
do Mar, making for some of the most fascinating landscapes in
Brazil.
Along the ocean there are 25 cities with a great variety of
beaches: some almost deserted, others full of simple bars and
restaurants where you can enjoy seafood. They are ideal for
contemplation, relaxing swims and long walks, as well as diving,
surfing, windsurfing, sailing, jet skiing and all sorts of other
water sports.
The countless curves along the coast result in both long and
short expanses of sand, the majority of it fine and light colored,
besides waters which oscillate between tones of green and blue.
The differing intensities of the waves means there is no lack
of leisure activities for children, teens and adults.
The state has three large coastal regions, all uniquely enchanting
and full of charm. Costa do Sol (Sun Coast) is in the North.
This is the tourist center where you'll find Armação
de Búzios and Cabo Frio. Costa Verde (Green Coast), in
the south, boasts emblematic Angra dos Reis and historical Paraty.
Between the two is the region which includes Niterói
and Rio de Janeiro, the state capital. Everywhere you go, there’s
much to do, discover, and be fascinated by.
