All these beaches in a single Rio

It’s summer vacation, the sun is up high and it’s really hot. Those who set foot in Rio de Janeiro looking for fun know just what to do: go straight to the beach. There are so many of them, each one with its own eccentricity. Transparent waters or seashell-covered sands, crowded or isolated, turbulent or cool as big swimming pools. It’s nearly impossible to decide which one is the most beautiful. Nevertheless, all these options will be fit for every taste.

People from all over the world, in and outside Brazil, come to Rio to be a part of this cool-hearted feeling. Student Vilson Azevedo is one of those who frequently comes to the state. He assures that tripping through Rio’s beaches is a needed itinerary: “The thing I love the most is the clear water. You can even see the bottom of the ocean”. Citizen of a remote city in the south part of the country, Vilson tells us the only beach in his town is cold and isolated, given its location.

Human resources analyst Eliane Hoffmann also chooses Rio when traveling through Brazil: “I really like visiting these beaches because they’re so beautiful and the people are really warm. The weather is hot and you have parties all the time. Going to Angra is also the best, I have so much fun in all those nearby regions. Buzios, Cabo Frio, it’s all really fantastic. You never feel like ending vacations and going back home”.

If you need any help to decide where you should go, check below some tips with the places that can dazzle you with some of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

Angra dos Reis

Take a look at all the sea restaurants

Anyone that gets to Angra, feels like exploring a paradise. More than 360 islands and thousands of beaches, it’s easy to get lost amongst all the entertainment options: diving, boat riding, sea restaurants offering live music such as others.

There are many kinds of different choices. For those who enjoy cozy pubs alongside the sea water, including live music, should go to Praia Grande, located in downtown. One of the most crowded in Angra, its transparent waters are perfect if you’re a diver.

To those who want even more options for diving, there’s also Praia Vermelha, which is next to the sinking California ship, one of the most interesting tourist spots in the city.

If you’ll choose a more clear water and white sand, there’s also Praia da Ribeira, near Coqueiro Island. Thanks to a huge natural pool and superb restaurants, the beach tends to be crowded in summer seasons. Just as beautiful and limpid, although less visited, there’s Praia de Tanguazinho.

Rio de Janeiro

Unravel the hidden beaches

Famous and agitated, Rio’s beaches amaze people because of its downtown air mixed with its nature feeling. Those who come to the city can choose the already worldwide known Praia de Cobacabana, Ipanema, Barra da Tijuca or Leblon. Either way, the visitor has also the option to explore some further locations and get to know places just as beautiful and even more preserved. Praia de Grumari, for instance, is one of the prettiest, because it still holds some vestiges of the Atlantic Forest. Located right after Grumari, there’s Prainha and Praia da Macumba, often visited by surfers. Its waves tend to be high at high tides.

Niterói

Cold but clean and clear waters

Niterói is another place worth being visited for those who want to know more beautiful beaches in the state. As they use to be cold, these beaches tend to be more frequented by surfers and fishermen. Praia de Itacoatiara offers people a chance to be in a calm place, with transparent blue waters. For those who may prefer greener waters and a big variety of stores and pubs, there’s Praia de Camboinhas, famous for its seafood restaurants. The place uses to be an often chosen spot for aquatic sports fans, such as fishing and windsurfing.

Arraial do Cabo

Stage to the most different aquatic sports

If you wish to go to a beach where you can practice sports, such as surfing, diving and boat riding, you should visit Arraial do Cabo. With its crystal and cold waters, this beach turns out to be perfect for surfing, given its strong and huge waves. Though if it’s not surfing you’re looking for, but diving, there are two options for you: Praia do Pontal and Praia do Forno. Both of them have clear and transparent waters, great for aquatic sports.

On the other hand, if it’s historical rides and sea restaurants which you want to enjoy, then you should know Praia dos Anjos, known for having being visited by traveler Americo Vespucio. Most famous historical spot in town, from this beach sails the best boat ridings.

Cabo Frio

Meet calmer beaches and great natural pools

Crowded and warm, Cabo Frio offers you from the most frequented beaches, located in downtown to its most paradisiacal and unknown ones. The most famous in town with its 7,5km transparent water and many entertainment options is Praia do Forte. Next to the town, you can visit the historical Cabo do Frio’s Fort.

If you’re willing to be far from downtown, choose Praia do Peró, famous for not having being touched by pollution at all. Another excellent choice is Praia das Conchas, considered to be one of the most beautiful in Brazil, for its blue waters and calm tides. The rock formation transforms the place in a natural aquarium, fitting for diving and kayak ridings. Before you leave Cabo Frio, take a chance to know Ilha do Japonês, considered a paradise for many. The beach which it’s perfect for diving, gives place to barbecues and picnic meetings, surrounding us its wild characteristics.

Búzios

Wild sports and refined menus

Those which are never missing in Búzios are the beaches. Take a walk at the coast and you’re sure to get a nice sunburn and lots of fun. Each beach has its own individual charm and, so if it’s possible, go and visit them all. Although if your time is short and you need to pick pre-established places, Praia Azeda, with its clean and crystal waters, turns out to be a great option. Another place you must visit is Praia João Fernandinho, full of sea restaurants and pubs with its seafood refined menus. If in fact you wish to practice sports, go to Praia de Geribá, where you can do body boarding, volleyball and windsurfing. Yet there’s another famous beach in town which is Ferradura. This one dazzles for its pubs and restaurants with an ancient and rural decoration, giving us the idea of a modern fisherman village. This beach represents just what Buzios is like, the perfect place for those travelling with its children.
